CULIACAN, Mexico - Gunbattles between rival gangs have killed 18 people in a northeastern Mexican town. The Tamaulipas state government says the fighting occurred early Monday in the town of Abasolo. It gave no other details in a three-sentence statement. Tamaulipas has been wracked by a turf war between the Zetas and Gulf cartels and information on violence in some towns is notoriously scarce.
